Description

Thanks for viewing !! :o) -- I saw this brave little buttie chase off every dragon that would come near him. There were some quite big dragons among them too, at least twice as big as this fella and hungry for butties and other insects. It was so awesome to see him chase off these dragons, the dragons actually had to do evasive manouvers to get away !! :D It even tried to scare me off, every time i would come within two meters of him he would launch a frontal attack before retreating again. Ofcourse its all bluff, butties dont have anything to attack with.. He would return to this leaf hes sitting on in the pic every time, he just wouldnt give up HIS spot :o) I got lucky and managed to approach him without him flying off to attack me (immediately)... once.. :o) Later, when i saw him flying off with his girlfriend (which, apparently was hiding in the bushes LOL) ;o), i realised he had been franticly defending his territory (and his mate) against the predatory dragons... It is a Comma btw. the latin name is Polygonia c-album. Its called a Comma because of a white mark on the underwing which looks a bit like a comma. The remarkable wing shape is an attempt to use leaves as camouflage to protect them from predators... although this aggressive specimen obviously didnt need any camouflage LOL Another pic of the Comma with visible 'comma' here. Hope you like & have a great tuesday :o) - Thanks for all your wonderful comments on my last upload, "That Speckled One Again" !! -- Many thanks, Jeroen

Where's the limit between braveness and unconsciousness? Dogs are the same, they just don't care about the size, they could attack horses or even buffalos... But by the way, it seems that men also act the same, don't they?

LMAO!!! Even had a girlfriend huh? Well, judging by the way his feathers look you can almost see that that is one fierce fighter. Must be quite satisfieing to walk away from that experience, not only with a stunning macro to prove it...but also to still be alive, LOL. Excellent work my friend, enjoy the rest of today #:O)

Loved your notes today,Jeroen.I could picture the whole thing.Especially the part about him defending his 'woman' and turf!...(I thought he looked like dried leaves)...Very cool and impressive capture with a very humanizing story to make one think about how even the smallest creature has a reality.
