Well put. I feel your pain. Too bad us insomniacs can't somehow join our collect consciousness and put it to good use. It's during these wee hours of the night that I pray for a sprinkling of divine intervention that'll spur me to invent something grand or find the cure cancer or see if I can remember how many sheep I counted before I finally sleep.

I sleep very little, and I use to consider myself an insomniac, yet then I admitted to myself the true reason behind my sleeping patterns and the lack of sleep I would get daily compared to others I knew Was because I realized how much "time" that "sleep" can take out of my life (which is shortas in life is short in general) thus to me a lot of wasted time. Therefore, I find I don't sleep when everyone else is or when most do nor how much most do. For during those hours is when most are snug in their beds as I am getting piece and quite thus I designated as my time to do what I want as in read or write or something When you do sleep, sleep deep, and rest well as I do I sleep a total of 3 hours a day. Others may need more or may not each person is different The problem with sleep I will occasionally have is when my sleeping routine must change for one reason or another then I experience stress and can relate to your writing above. Maybe your sleeping pattern has changed or as others here have suggested you just have something on your mind thus this action won't allow you to sleep Do you go to sleep at the exact same time every day or night? What ever time that is, train the mind to shut down and rest no matter whatand you'll feel tired and be ready to sleep. (Sort of like that of a computer) Then power up again at a certain time, what ever time you need that to be in your life and you will wake up the same time everyday without the aid of an alarm clock feeling refreshed and ready to go This is what I do, it may sound strange but it works for meThanks for sharing by the way hope you get or have gotten some rest since this posting and your day is brighter!
