Description
~"Saxicola torquata"~
I don't know if you've followed 'Springwatch' on BBC2, but tonight they featured the Stonechat. This is my shot of a female, snapped in the gorse bushes on the cliffs at St. Bees Head at Easter. Quality & colour isn't perfect at it was shot almost straight into the sun, about 90 minutes before sunset.
I also got a snap of the male, will post if anyone is interested, although it too was shot in less than ideal conditions...
It's called a Stonechat as it makes a noise like 2 pebbles being knocked together... "tsak... tsak-tsak"... etc. !!!
EOS20D 100-400L @ 400mm, F6.3, 1/800s, ISO 400.
Hope you like!

Very nice - really like the way she is partially sidelit, although (as you say) you have probably lost some color because of it - excellent shot!!
