Description

Once in a Blue Moon The first printed appearance of this expression was in 1528 in an item called, 'Rede Me and Be Not Wroth', well before the time of William Shakespeare. The term 'once in a blue moon', means extremely infrequent; so rare an occurance as to be equivalent to almost never. It truly means there are two full moons in one month: 29 days between the first and second full moon in one calendar month. In 1883, the Indonesian volcano, Krakatoa ( formerly a volcanic island between Java and Sumatra), exploded with the power of a 100-megaton nulear blast sending plumes of ash to the top of the earth's atmosphere. These ash particles, about 1 micron wide, scattered red light and allowed other colors to pass through the ash. When the moonbeams shone through the clouds, the moon appeared blue and sometimes green. Other volcanos have caused blue moons to appear. In 1983 after the eruption of El Chichon (near Chiapas Mexico), people saw blue moons. There were reports of blue moons caused by Mt. St. Helens volcano (in Washington state, United States of America) in 1980, and Mount Pinatubo, (Luzon,Philippines) in 1991. After doing more research on the above mentioned volcanoes, I decided to rewrite the information. Leanndra Apophysis 2.02 Postwork: PSP 7/Flaming Pear/Flood Frame: mypatchesangel.com

excellent work and info.. your fractal is quite eerie. I past Mount Pinatubo, only miles from the crator on my way to northern Luzon. it was quite unnerving to go through the ash fields. The highway that I was on was still under repair and detour went down through the creek(ash) beds-no water

I see two faces in the middle section, one above the other, and they both look like they come straight off the tip of HR Giger's paintbrush...awesome and strange composition L.!!

OOOOOOH, I really like this one, Leanndra! You have a way of using deep rich colors on a dark background and then using just the right lighting to enhance you work!
