Origin of "Cocktails": During the American Revolution, a barmaid serving Colonial and Alied French officers decided to add a whimsical touch. She garnished the drinks with tail feathers from a barnyard chicken recently 'liberated' from a British sympathizer. A young French officer, slightly tipsy, thought so much of the idea he spouted out a mixture of French and English: Vive le coq's tail".
