Description

While looking for another decent photo of my Dad, I ran across this image of my younger sister Nancy. I'm in the background, aiming my then-relatively-new Minolta SRT-200. I'd been working in a factory that summer but a propitious accident put me into a cast and onto Workman's Comp for the hottest six weeks of summer. Nancy was not so fortunate and was working as a corn detasseler. She'd just come home from a hard day de-sexing cornstalks and was about to clean up in bathroom we shared. I hobbled over and started lining up a picture. Nancy didn't believe I had film in the camera so she playfully hopped up on the sink and adopted this pose. She was pretty shocked when a week later, I handed her the snapshot. To this day, 29 years later, I still don't think she likes this picture. Sisters..... older, younger, I still don't understand them! By the way, Nancy is mother to Brigitte, the girl in the swinging shots from last week. So far, Brij has been a dead ringer for Nancy at her age. If it hold up, I can try recreating this pic again in 9 years (although I don't think I'll be able to fit into that old shirt!).
