Description

OK, one more of this beautiful animal. Five feet is not the amount of feet this animal had, but about the distance that was between him/her and me(and that lovely peace of glass). So this picture, believe it or not, is not a crop. Although this picture is amazing, I do have mixed feelings about it too. Zoo's tend to keep animals in cages that are to small. For some reason esspecialy wild cats and I'm sorry to say, but the this zoo in Munster is no exception. It hurts me to see this. On the other hand I realise that they do a lot of good work in for example educating young people about the beauty on our planet, that is so rapidly disappearing. Eddy.

Beautiful shot of a magnificent animal. I agree with you about their captivity. It's a catch 22. It's a shame and yet there are many species that would now be extinct if they weren't in captivity. ~sighs~

Yes, I understand your mixed feelings. I can't visit zoos for that very reason or go to circus acts. I adopted a Macaw (traded two diamond rings for him) because he was being left in his cage all day and night. The family tired of him and left him there. I would never pay money at a pet store for a big bird like that because I don't want to encourage the market. But Star died after I had him for two years. It was almost like losinga child. I am proud that you are saying outloud your honest feelings about zoos. This is a quote I have for STAR: Sometimes it makes me sad, though. I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are just too bright... ...and when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice...but still, the place you live is that much more drab and empty that they're gone.
