Description

Sci-fi great Charles Sheffield in his Heritage Universe Series described the Miranda Spaceport (through the narrative of his charismatic Captain Alonzo Wilberforce Sloan) as a planet-based port with a stalk running up to stationary orbit, connected to a shroud,

I think it looks pretty good to me. Very good infact. I like the textures and the engine glow is pure sci-fi, a good choice by you, if not by it's captain. Great work.

Suberb sci fi! Great modeling and concept. Love the awesome scale of the port and the idea of a base at the end of a stalk is incredible. Classic sci fi stuff!. I too like the engine glow you have achieved. Excellent!! Vote

A great pic - what me puzzels is the fact that ship shows full engine power in distance towards that tower - a bit strange;

A conundrum indeed - if the shroud was 9,000 miles across, it would be bigger than the Earth - I'll bet that makes the planet wobble a bit

I agree with MarkHirst. A station of that size is bound to develop its own gravity and be able to exert a tidal pull on the Earth greater than the Moon due to its mass as well as its distance. A "station" of that size would more than qualify to be used as a multi-generational starship for interstellar or intergalactic voyages.

Looking "20 miles in diameter" would be better, just think how long it would had taken to paint the 'Port Miranda' sign!!!! Another beautifuly made model, well done
