Description

Tonight I start a mini series on the one of my favorite parks to go to when the waves are hitting this side of the island. Mackenzie Park located on the east side of the Big Island is a state park set aside for camping and fishing. The water here is especially great for fishing because it is so deep. Unfortunately, when the swells are hitting the high cliffs here, it makes for some dangerous fishing conditions. The waves here were in the 3-5ft. range and just pounding the cliffs all day. I sat for several hours watching and taking images...what a great way to while away the hours....I will be posting my results over the next several days...hope you like them as much as I did taking them. All images taken with a Canon 10D and my 24-70 2.8 with polarizing filter. Some sharpening and curve adjustments. Thanks for having a peek and hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! Aloha~

The water clashing against the rocks is the ocean dancing for the gods and us mortals. Each dancing crescendo, unique in its exuberance and when isolated by the artist eye, an abstract symphony of white shapes and tones. I looks forward to your new series with delight and anticipation. Have a wonderful Sunday.

Perhaps the waves try to defend the fishes. Wonderful.

.....great capture --- one could go thru quite a lot of film this way searching for the perfect wave ( ala surfer's creed )....but then you could be digital - which would be perfect for this type of capture - ( until you get too close and get your modern technology circiuts fried! ) --- happy hunting - this one's a keeper.

Just watched a PBS special on the great waves on Oahu's North Shore, but this shot is even more beautiful! The lighting on the white spray is perfect, and the colors in the sky are magnificent :)
