I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

The water and shoreline are the focal points I know...and good job(!). ..but...It's the soft warm colors across the horizon that stand out for me. Good POV and fine use of the terrain.

And another long render I'm sure. :o) Starting with the foreground I like the mild overlays used here. Water Surface and Foam are very well done to. The Surfaces on the Monoliths are simple yet very effective. The Atmosphere Colors, Rays, Shadows and the 3D Clouds at the Horizon are Superb! Who says 3D clouds are Taboo? ;o) Not to be Negative, just Helpful, in my opinion the sun's appearance is a little to small in size and in the water to land transition touch-ups with a Clone or Smudge brush needs a little more practice. This will come in time I'm sure. I hope that wasn't to harsh My Friend? What's a Friend that can't be honest anyway? This is Wonderful Addition to The Gallery Bob and even with my Crusty Comment is worthy of a Click. :o)

Agree with Horselips regarding the lovely sky near the horizon, really a Gem!!! Awesome pov and surfacing, some reminding me of Rich2's technique. I too like the simple and effective surfaces on the cliffs. No suggestions except I like the ones that our friend "Crusty" has advanced!!! :)
