Surfacing is pretty good. Try adding a few more smaller stars for added realism. Check out Markal's gallery for some ideas - his stuff is excellent. I like the glow around the planet (but it appears not to be round - it probably got distorted when you resized it). Anyway this is a wonderful first picture - I hope we see more!

greta idea - agree with TwistedNoodle - look at Markal and Orestes work - Buzzzz also adds real life skies better than anyone - good work but i think the planet stands out too much - fade the planet and add some more smaller starfields - download a Universe generator for easier creation of stars etc - nice job for a first time effort
