Description

The title came up to my mind as I was rendering some trials with my new purchase, the Unimesh Realism Kit. I ended up with two portraits of "Faces of the orient" and as there is a hot tempered discussion going on here in Germany about ethnic traditions and social adjustment to modern times and immigration countries I decided to make an image with both, tradition and modern age, that can go peaceful hand in hand, side by side. For all the people who may have no idea what I'm talking about: During the last months there was a series of "murder for honor". Brothers and fathers killed their sisters/daughters for not living in line with the family respectivly the ethnic traditions of their culture group. IMHO anybody should be allowed and should be able to live how he wants, this includes any ethnic minority - but this cannot include killing people who decide to go their own way. Credits see below, hair is the new UpDo by Kozaburo, lighting by me - and I'm happy I can write this: No postwork exept of merging the two portraits together, giving them the common frame and title and a bit cleaning-up of the Kabuki-Side at the hairline. *Thanks a lot for the kind comments. I decided to fix the hairline around the ears - so I have to add: Some minor but important postwork on the sideburns of the hair.*

Beautiful image. The story is extremely sad, though. It never fails to astonish me when humans are so barbaric and cruel...especially to those we profess to love. =(

Gets my vote! Excellent image and idea and superbly carried out. The only thing that bothers me a bit (other than the cruelty and stupidity of people) is the hair over the ears - from the front, it looks like a layer of transparent solid material. Wonderful work!

Okay, jc, you're right - my husband said the same. Seems there is no way to add hair and doing no postwork... I'll fixed this, it bothered me too!

Beutiful image. I totaly agree with your oppinion. Anybody should be alowed to practice whichever tradition they chose, but no one should be discriminated and especially killed if they chose to follow something different. It is our basic right to chose what we want to belive in. It is unfair if people do not have that basic right. I understand that there are people around us that find it almost impossible to accept something new and different. Imagine if we were not allowed to chose what we belive in, we would not have any creativity and this wonderfull community would never exist. I say bring on the freedom of choice and creativity!!!! =)

Kudos to your render, which is excellent, but even more to your word - intolerance of every type was, is, and i fear will always be, one of the major problems of humankind!
