Sasso Lungo from the Pordoi Pass

This was the moment I had been hoping for.
I was hanging about the Pordoi pass waiting for a glimmer of hope, aching for a clear view of this beautiful part of Northern Italy, the Dolomites.
The cable car wires simply disappeared into the grey sky above and told me there was no point in paying for a trip up into nothingness.
Then it happened.
With an almost audible whoosh, a great hole appeared to the west revealing the Sasso Lungo group. Its peaks seemed impossibly high after the blank white of moments before.
The refuge T.Demetz can be seen on the right col at 2685m.
Now I had a mission!
