oh mann this isnt what i want to see right now got a spider bite on my arm this week then got bleach in it and it turned into a second degree burn!! .. beautiful shot and capture though!!

The detail in this shot is really marvellous, the spinaret clearly visible and the left hind leg feeding out a new thread as it moves along the supporting line. How much easier it would be to build bridges and aerial structures if we had machines that could do this and with material as strong and liht as this. Can anyone tell me this: how can a tiny spider connect a web between two lines fifteen feet apart when the poles supporting those lines were from twenty to thirty feet distant and no wind over the past 24 hours. I scratched my head bald over that one whilst watching it zoom back and forth building up a network of guys to support a central web. Okay it dropped to the ground and ran to the next pole but it's eyesight must be extremely good and reasoning very advanced to know the right pole! georgeclarke
