Description

This is the shell from which a Cicada emerged several months ago. I am surprised the shell is still here, holding tightly to the side of an old cedar tree on an open farmland. Nearby, we ate mulberry berries from the tree. Nice day it was. I often thought, could I look through the eye lens of the shell the Cicada once called home? Could I see through the eyes of the creature?

I like your shot! I took one of these, too! I think yours is at a better angle. :)

This is so nicely taken.Maybe they leave the shell for a decoy to birds then hide off somewhere else. Eclose up

This is a beauty, for a time I was obsessed with these critters...still am to a degree and this is an excellent image. They're all over Chicago and I miss them since it's been more than a year since I've seen Chicago. I love the textures here, the sense of color is fantastic as well, and your commentary does raise some interesting philosophical issues as well...if you could see through cicada eyes, what would you see, or more importantly HOW would you see? What other non-human perceptions would come into play? Fantastic image! I'm glad I browsed through your gallery enough to find this.
