Happy Birthday, USA
An enormous crowd has gathered,
Ten thousand people strong,
Moms and Dads and children,
Make up the cheerful throng.
They've all come out to celebrate
A very special thing.
The anniversary of the date
Our country came into being.
All day the band's been playing,
"My Country, Tis of Thee"
And other patriotic songs
That show that we are free.
The sun is setting, the sky ablaze
With purple, orange and red.
Everybody settles down
They know what lies ahead.
And now a hush falls on the crowd
And everybody stands
Hands placed firmly on their hearts
And listen to the band.
The first notes of a song begin
The Star Spangled Banner rings out.
The crowd all loudly sing along
At the end they cheer and shout.
The evening sky gets darker still
The first stars twinkle bright.
Then suddenly a booming sound
And brightness fills the night.
This is what they're waiting for
A brilliant fireworks show.
With light and noise and colors
Some that sparkle, some that glow.
Flowers of fire, fountains of light
Flashes of lightning in a cloudless sky.
Manmade thunder rolling out
Makes tiny children cry.
The wonderment of light and sound
Cause ooohs and ahhhhs from all.
Happy birthday USA
You're the greatest one of all.
