Just one crit: the ship in the background has too many sails set for the weather condition you have rendered. During a major storm like this, the least amount of sails set was safest. The sails you show would normally have been set for little or no wind, which would require almost all sails set to catch any wind that would move the ship. During a storm of this size, usually only one sail per mast was set, also the fore-and-aft jibsails on the most forward mast, the jibboom, and the driver on the last mast, the mizzen. Usually only these might be set, for fear of, "tearing the sticks outta her" (or dismasting) and allowing enough steerageway to navigate. Otherwise, if the ship was far enough out to sea, the captain would allow the ship to run with the storm, primarily to minimize damage, which could be a court martial and dismissive offense, if the captain and crew were lucky enough to survive.

I love the POV and the waves. Great composition and lighting too. The water in the extreme foreground near that cannons is to reflective and looks like plastic wrap shine more then say water. Tone it down a bit and it will fit in with the rest of the scene. Excellent image!

Looking at all the crits, I say show us better. I know exactly what it takes to get water to look like this, (who gives a sh... about the other boat anyway?) this sea is simply terrific. Excellent work.

This is most excellent work. I am so tired of FitArtistSF always stickin his stupid criticism in. If he is such a flawless perfectionist, then let him do what you did. Otherwise he should just enjoy the image for what it is........gorgeous art. This is really outstanding work. V

Great image here bogwoppet! I like the overall feel to it, cause it's really putting the spectator into it. Now...I'm all for realism and details but Geeeeeeez FitArtistSF! Working in a pro enviroment it is vital that one does some research about the next art piece, but at Rosity we're artist trying different things and looking for humble opinions...which you were really good at...it's just that it wouldn't hurt to throw in some creative feedback instead of trying to stab this artist...If all of us thought like you none of us would actually be fit to do great space scenes for instance. There will always be flaws to point out in an image. In a "spacescape" I can promise you that an astronaut would be able to pick out more flaws than you could shake your stick at. It might be that these boats were caught off guard and hadn't had time to prep the boat for a lasting storm...or something...try to use you imagination FitArtistSF...don't go by rules... (logo)
