Description

This is my interpretation of Professor Lug's Laboratory for Peejay's Traug project. I have been working on this image for quite sometime. The model of Professor Lug is, of course, Peejay's, as well as the bunsen burner. The "pickled mysteries" creatures also were created by him for the project and were too good to pass up. All other models are mine, created primarily in Wings, with some modeled in Rhino. Just FYI, the rendering in Bryce took forever and a day ... actually a grand total of somewhat more than 200 hours, comprised of seven 14-hour nights, plus two complete weekends (about 130 hours) for the original 3000X3100 image. The models all are pretty detailed and got the Bryce file pretty beefy, at just under 700 megabytes. Some things were layered in in posts, including the chandelier and some cables, to avoid taking my system to its knees. Thanks to Peejay for coming up with this project in the first place. I'd love to hear any comments any of you might have. It's been fun. I hope you guys all like it. EDIT: OH, forgot to mention one of the most important things: Go, see this terrific project's website at http://www.traugs.com/

Thank you so much John, this is absolutely wonderful. Thanks for not giving up, I think you deserve a medal for that. I'm having great fun trying to guess what those levers might do...

All your hard work was definitely worth it as this really came out great! I especially like you lighting and all the details. I'm sure it will be a wonderful addition for peejay's project. :)

Nice work! I wasn't aware of the project until I saw your post with the link. This is a great concept -- developing a theme with 3D inputs. Using graphics and text to actually devlop a story ..... And text and graphics can be converted to mpeg .......

Someone should remind the professor he's got something cooking. Lovely smoky atmosphere going there.

Cool pic but how does it get to the point where it takes that long? How do you edit a picture like that if you find soemthing out of whack after you finish?

Sheer resolution size appears to be part of the problem, plus the number of models. I've arranged them so they seem somewhat neat, so it doesn't seem like there would be that many models, but there are quite a few. Last factor is -- and this is the real biggy -- glass. Those jars, bottles and test tubes REEAAAALLy slow things down.
