Description

This is the castle (or pyramid) of Kukulcan in Chichen Itza, Mexico. The 9 tiers represent the symbolic number of the Region of the Dead, and two serpent heads (which are the symbol of the god Kukulcan) form the base of the balustrade on the north side. Unfortunately, those are covered by that group in the middle of the shot, left of center. With that as background, this is just a generic temple shot taken a few moments before I dared climb the rather imposing and massively steep steps.

Ah, the famous pyramid. Too bad it was overrun by tourists, but that is the way of it when you go to see these things.

Agreed, but it does give some idea of the immensity of the structure.
