Description
In the right place, at the right time!
Snapped this jay a couple of weeks ago at Elvaston, scene of several other of my bird shots! I was so close I had to zoom out to get him all in-shot. Not sure who was more surprised, him or me!
EOS 20D, 100-400L @340mm, F6.3, 1/800s ISO 400.

Steve, you have brought a recent memory to mind in a hurry! First, excellent image! Love it! I got a new telephoto and went to find a blue heron..sure enough, I parked the truck only to see on 20 feet away on a stump in the water. Of course, the bird slowly flew away and I was not ready for a close shot. The image is in this mind but not on film or pixels. Very nice..wishing you good luck again! TomDart.

u gotta be quick just incase they shoot off, i have spent so much time trying to get good composition that when i finally have it they are gone, i too was lucky with my recent bird photography, this is xcellent work!!!
