Description

I thought I'd send up something a bit different from my Poser images. This is a photograph I took during a hike up Mount Washington in New Hampshire on July 3, 2005. I wanted to give it the look of an antique photograph. I think it came out rather nice. The Cog-Railroad is the oldest and first cog train in the world. The engines push the passenger cars instead of pulling them, up the steep slope of Mount Washington. This particular engine bears the original (and in my opinion the proper) name for the mountain as named by the Abenaki people, "Agiocochook". It translates roughly to "Where God Lives". Having hiked up there, I can attest to beauty of the area. Unfortunately, the summit has been taken over by an auto road, a train station, a visitors center, and far too many tourists, which for the avid hiker seeking solace (like me) is a bit disheartening. I believe the natives had it right when they named the mountain, however in light of what's happened up there, I think God may have moved over one peak to one of the undeveloped summits. If anyone is interested in seeing more photography from my recent hike, they are here: http://fylbrigge.com/mountians/jewel/index.html Enjoy. Peace, Lorrieann
