a picture holding secrets yet to be revealed...i like this composition!

Point of view is excellent. I like the feel of infinity. The composition is perfect. On a technical merit, I would like to offer the suggestion of using flash as a fill for the shadow area so that the highlights would no be so drastic and the foreground more alive. The only way to avoid having such differences in exposure is shot at a different time of day or when it is overcast. Even waiting for a cloud to soften the difference is significant. I would also consider using the 17-35 and being actually 1/2 way in his opening for a natural only light shot. If you metering with a hand held, read the highlight, then the shadow. find the middle ground and lean towards the high light a bit and then shot. I hope you dont feel I am too hard on you Christian. I wish I could be there to give you pointers and see the situation for myself first hand. Colour negative film has a greater latitude, now you need to decide how your going to use it to your advantage. After you have set up your shot on a tripod, take your time, the cathedral is not going anywhere. Contemplate the light and all its ranges. Think of the textual details of the stone, glass and iron of this building. take dozens of different hand held light meter readings and average them out in your head, then make your exposure. Slow and easy.

thanks, dear egmont :) i guess it's not too hard - that's the way i can learn... i don't have a hand meter but it's something i'm considering to buy... concerning flash - an interesting idea - i can try next time i'm there... :) thank you again...! i'll keep all those in mind for the next time!
