This is part 2 of my trackside railway building sets. This set consists of a weighbridge and office and a grounded van body.
A weighbridge is a large metal plate set into the road surface connected to a set of balance scales situated in the office. They were used for weighing horse drawn carts and lorries etc, and were seen in most goods yards. Invented in the mid 1700's the design remained virtually unchanged until the 1960's.
The model includes the weighbridge (complete with "bullhead" guiderail), the office building with interior and opening door, a set of scales, a desk (with opening drawer) and chair. A flat piece of ground with a hole to fit the weighbridge in is included as well as the same ground with no hole so you can extend the road surface.
Old van bodies were often used by railway companies for storage purposes and were a common site.
The model features opening doors (with working handles) and padlock props to keep the contents safe.
