The Neosho class of river monitors consisted of two armored, shallow-draft paddle-wheelers, the Neosho and the Osage. The class had a single steam-power turret forward, housing two 11-inch Dahlgren guns. The single paddlewheel, powered by four steam boilers and two engines, was protected by an armored conical housing. Both monitors saw action on the Mississippi, Red and Cumberland Rivers.
This fully-rigged Poser figure is based on period plans, photographs, and illustrations of the Neosho class vessels. It incorporates an operating (but somewhat speculative) turret based on drawings of similar monitor turrets, and articulated steam engines based on photos of the recovered USS Cairo engines. The model features a full, unfurnished, interior extrapolated from period plans.
(The model was built for Poser but loads and operates in DAZ Studio – see the ReadMe for particulars).
