As Candy the magnificent white rooster strutted around the yard, he couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. He was the most handsome and confident rooster in all the land and he knew it.
But as he spotted a particularly pretty hen pecking at the ground, he felt a sudden surge of nervousness. With his feathers displayed in all their glory, Candy approached her, trying to catch her attention.
He started singing a song to himself, hoping to impress the hen with his musical talents.
'You're the cutest thing that I ever did see, I really love your peaches, want to shake your tree,' Candy sang, puffing out his chest.
As he continued his serenade, the other animals in the yard couldn't help but chuckle at Candy's attempts to woo the hen.
'Lovely-dovey, lovey-dovey, lovey-dovey all the time, oh, baby, I'll sure show you a good time,' Candy sang, not caring about the giggles and snickers around him.
But just as he was about to finish his song, a deep, mocking voice interrupted his performance.
'Well well well, look who we have here. The great Candy the white rooster, trying to impress the ladies,' the voice said, belonging to none other than Aries the black rooster.
Candy's feathers ruffled in annoyance as Aries strutted over, followed by his gang of roosters who always seemed to be by his side.
'I mean, come on Candy, what kind of song is that? You're a chicken, not a rockstar,' Aries continued, cackling loudly.
Candy was taken aback by the sudden attack on his musical abilities. Sure, he may not have the best voice, but it didn't mean he couldn't appreciate a good song.
Feeling hurt and embarrassed, Candy tried to save face and retorted, 'It may not be a great song, but at least I'm singing from the heart. What about you, Aries? What do you have to offer besides your cackling laugh?'
The other animals in the yard could sense the tension between the two roosters and they all eagerly waited to see what would happen next.
Aries' face turned red with anger, but before he could respond, the pretty hen that Candy had been trying to impress stepped forward.
'Excuse me, but I think Candy's song is quite charming. And I would much rather be with someone who sings from the heart than someone who just wants to show off,' she said, giving Candy a flirty wink before walking away.
The other animals erupted in cheers and laughter, while Aries and his gang's faces fell in defeat. Candy's chest swelled with pride as the pretty hen walked away with him, leaving the other and his jealousy behind.
From that day on, Candy's song became a hit around the yard and the other animals would often request for him to sing it again for them.
And as for Aries and his gang, they were always reminded of the time they were defeated by a chicken with a song in his heart.
