The Anglo Saxons and Danish Vikings both used a short sword called a Sax. It's a one handed single edged weapon that was used during the Danish invasion of England in the 9th century A.D. The complex designs along the blades length were caused when the raw metals were forge welded together by the weaponsmith when the sax was made.

In the fearsome shield walls of both armies, the standard sword was too long to be used effectively, so the shorter sax was often used. The blade was thrust blindly between interlocked shields, seeking out a gap in their enemies armoured bodies.

Both the Danish and Anglo Saxon saxes are parented to the right and left hands of M4 and V4 and the scabbards are parented to the left and right hips.

Each sax and scabbard has a 1500x1500 texture, specular and bump map.
