Hesperornis regalis is a genus of flightless aquatic birds that lived 83.5-78 million years ago (Late Cretaceous period). Famous locations for Hesperornis fossils are the Late Cretaceous marine lime stones from Kansas and the marine shale from Canada.It was a large bird, reaching up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) in length.
