A squirrel-sized Cronopio dentiacutus is one of the very few mammal specimens to come out of South America from the era when dinosaurs ruled the Earth. This Late Cretaceous (100 m.y.a.) animal was discovered in sandstone sediments at Cipolletti, Rio Negro Province, Argentina.
It ate insects of different kinds, and very small invertebrates, like small lizards.
