Interview with Missuskisses

Renderosity: Your work is so accomplished and beautiful. What is your secret?

Missuskisses: Thanks so much! I'm still very much learning. It's hard for me to just sit through tutorials, so I try to come up with concepts first and then learn only what I need to execute my concepts, and eventually, you end up with all these tricks in your bag. I do spend a lot of time on lighting and post-work.

Tell us about your background, how did you get involved in digital art?

Missuskisses: In a bit of a roundabout way. I've loved drawing and painting since I was a kid, but physical art is so much less mutable and takes up a lot more space! At some point through browsing stock art, I saw a lot of cool 3D renders that I loved. So, I tried 3D art for a bit and gave up. A few years later, I just happened to be in the mood, had a project in mind, and gave 3D art another go. This time, things just clicked, and I haven't stopped since!

What is the typical workflow on a project? When do you know it is finished?

Missuskisses: Concept, research (if the concept involves something new), execution (usually departs from the idea because nothing comes out exactly as planned), and then post-work! I don't ever know if anything's "finished" but at some point I just ask myself, "Would I be proud to show this off or no?" I'd like to think my standards have gotten higher over the years, since I cringe when I look back on some of my earlier work. But it's all part of the learning process!

How has Renderosity made a difference?

Missuskisses: Renderosity has some amazing tools and products to help bring my visions to life. I'm also a vendor here, which helps fund my hobby, because everything I earn goes back to the store!

Any last thoughts or comments?

Missuskisses: Thanks for voting for me, and thanks for looking at my work! This was a nice surprise.
