Renderosity: Your modeling work is so beautifully detailed; did you teach yourself or did you take classes to develop your 3D skills?
DreamlandModels: I taught myself over the last 29 years as a hobby until I decided to go full-time. Have been drawing since I was a kid, and I am 68, so lots of art experience. It also did not hurt that I was a master carpenter and cabinet maker for around 45 of those years. That has served me well, in proportions and what is actually a real-life dimension.
How do you go about finding examples to model. What is your workflow?
DreamlandModels: I just look for ideas when driving around and if I see details I like in architecture, I just remember them. Then I try to incorporate them into my designs. My workflow depends on the type of work I am doing. The biggest part of my work is mapping and texturing, so a lot of time is spent on it for my products.
I particularly like your nature scenes. Can you tell us about one of your bestsellers: Two Tracks in the Woods for DS
DreamlandModels: I have always been a lover of the woods, as I grew up in Michigan, USA on a ravine. Just something so peaceful about the woods. My all-time favorite thing in the world is to sit on a log in the woods and just listen to the wind rustling the leaves. Have always loved images or scenes of two tracks as that brings me back to my youth in Michigan. So that was my inspiration for Two Track in the Woods for DS
