Renderosity’s Rising Star Vendor of the Month for February 2024 is a woman who thrives in two very different worlds, each of which she lives in most every day. She is known as Ailyaflrn on our web pages, and Ailya in her personal world.

She describes herself as a wife to a husband who works in London, where she now lives herself, after having grown up on a farm. She spends every day taking care of and running the family livestock business, but the demands of that only takes about half her day, so until a couple of years ago she had plenty of free time.

With all that extra time she decided to learn independently about 3D characters, because she wanted to express her fantasies regarding elves, which she discusses more about in her answers below. She’s been studying since the end of 2021, and at the beginning of 2023, she began sharing her work by becoming a vendor at Renderosity.

“I will pour more of the fantasy I have into my art. Maybe one day I will try other figures like Genesis 9, Victoria 8 and others,” she told us.

For now, she shares some of what she has learned, how she works and, more importantly, what motivates her.

What is the typical workflow for a project and what tools and programs do you like to use?

I don't have a patent workflow, because at first, I did this all just as a hobby and to fill my free time. I want to continue doing this character design with fun, not with pressure. I usually work using DAZ Studio, ZBrush, Materialize, Photoshop and Substance (3D) Painter software. There's a lot of software that has to be used, so sometimes I do it randomly, like making morphs first, or making textures and materials first. This all feels very exciting to me.

You really seem to like expressing facial details. What drives your interest in faces?

I really like elves, because since I was little, I lived on a farm with an open natural atmosphere. Since I was little, I got a lot of books about elves from my parents. I feel that elves who live in the forest should have detailed faces because they are exposed to sunlight and nature every day which, damages the skin. So that encouraged me to be interested in the details of my character's face.

Which vendors or other artists influence your work?

Crocodiles

How has Renderosity made a difference in your growth as an artist/vendor?

Many people like my art on Renderosity, so it makes me want to immediately show my newest work. I can't make many characters in 1 month, because to express all my creativity and love into a work of art, requires a lot of time and energy.

Do you have any words of advice for someone who wants to become a vendor?

Enjoy every process in designing your character…don't make this a burden. Because every work of art is created with creativity and love!

Any final thoughts or comments?

I want to say thank you to everyone who bought, liked and shared my art. I love you guys!
