October 2024’s Rising Star!, CaesarTheGreat, was born in the ancient city of Edirne, founded in roughly AD 125 in western Turkey near the border of Greece and Bulgaria. He still lives in a small town next to his birthplace where he is engaged in one of the most modern of art forms, 3D design. His interest in computers came at the age of five because his father ran an internet café where he spent all his afternoons after school.
Like many of us, his first foray into computers was playing games – all kinds of games.
As he added a few years, he had dreams of getting into game development in some way, but he realized coding wasn’t for him. He was later intrigued with visual arts and learned to excel in 2D techniques like drawing, shading and reading light. Then came Daz Studio and he spent much of his offtime bringing ideas to life in 3D.
Now, at the age of 30, he looks back on jobs he’s had as a construction worker, a master elevator technician, running an internet café and fast food shop. He went to university and was accepted into Russan language study and literature, but, as he put it, “why the hell did I want to study Russian? I’m not sure why, but in those years, I thought it was a good idea….”
Q&A with CaesarTheGreat
What were the first programs you used when you began working in 3D artistry, and what do you rely on now?
The very first program I used was photoshop. I used to make funny photomontages like changing heads or adding a moustache to a woman photos. Lately, I’ve learned Blender.
What is your typical workflow for a design?
I dont have a workflow, actually. I'm not organized at all. Sometimes, I take idea notes and when I feel ready, I start to work. That's it. I have many ideas, but I don't know when I will finish them all.
What part of 3D design work do you most like doing and can you tell me about your design style?
About 3D design, I can say I like all parts of it. Nowadays, I do pose sets but later, I will make clothes, environments and props too. All of them look cool to me. The only thing I hate about it is that making images, takes so long. And about my style... I like to make realistic products and poses. For example, when I make a pose set I want you to feel like they are real poses from real people.
How did you transition your interest in digital art to becoming a vendor?
I did some research on 3D sales and vendors, and then I said I can do this job. I already knew many things about 2D art, so it’s not too different than 3D.
What motivated you to become a vendor?
Moneeeey! No, I’m just kidding. Yeah, money is important, too, but visual arts was already my dream job. I love what I do. Another thing is my girlfriend. She always supports me.
Are there other artists that influence your work or have mentored you?
No, but my mom is also interested in art and sometimes she and my girlfriend give me ideas.
Why did you make the decision to become a vendor at Renderosity?
Because they treat you like a professional, and they don’t allow sexual content. Also, they have testers and don’t let everyone just upload something pointless which occupies the front pages.
Do you have anything else you'd like to share with other members?
Yes! I'm going to propose next month, so I still have to work hard and save for marriage. Wish me luck, lol!
