Congratulations go to alexia, whose entry was selected for the Front Cover of Renderosity magazine, Issue 5! Additional congratulations go to Lynne for being selected for the back cover. The CD-Rom Silkscreen will be the entry from ScarlettWoman. In addition to the these selections, we've got 7 Runners up, not to mention 15 Honorable Mentions. Wow, what an exciting contest it has been too! We are not ashamed to say that the entries were SO good, we almost couldn't decide. As you can see by the huge list of contest winners, the behind the scenes voting and fighting over this cover selection was once again fiercely waged! Thank you all for your support and participation in this contest, and for making this one of our most successful contests ever. Create your best art that incorporates one of the Seed Images provided in the links below. You can use as many of these Seed images as you desire, but you must use at least ONE somewhere in your work. The seed image can be used anywhere, anyhow, and in any way you can imagine! Use it for a texture, a backdrop, a prop, a transparency channel, bump map even -- the possibilities are endless and limited only by your own creativity. You may choose to use portions of the Seed images in any combination you want, however, enough of at least ONE Seed image must be used in the work to comply with the rules. In the event that Seed images are modified beyond recognition in one of the entries chosen as a contest winner, the winner will be required to show progression of the Seed(s) to verify compliance with contest spirit and rules. If a selected image does not start with enough of a Seed image to comply with spirit of the contest / challenge, the Renderosity magazine team reserves the right to select another winner. • Contest theme is "Seeds of Inspiration -- Create your best art that incorporates one of the Seed Images provided in the links below. • Seed images are copyrighted and belong to their respective creators! By allowing the Seed images to be used in this contest, the copyright holders of the images are in no way impying conscent or revolking any copyrights. The Seed images cannot be used for any other purpose than this, Renderosity magazine Cover 5 contest, without the express, written permission of the Seed image copyright holder(s).
• Image entry size must be [72dpi-RGB-jpg], 640 (width) x 749 (height) pixels - don't forget to include a 100 x 100 pixel thumbnail. (Winner will need to supply a larger, 2550 x 2984 pixel [300dpi-CMYK-tif] image for printing)
• **If winner does not supply their image to us in proper size (By Januray 25th, 2003) they may, at the discretion of the magazine team and in response to publishing deadlines, forfeit their right to be published within the magazine. The magazine team may, at that time, choose an alternate cover winner.
• The image submitted for the online contest system will be in either jpg or gif format. The winning images will need to be in TIF format at the proper dimension as previously stated.
• Everyone except Renderosity Admins and Magazine Staff can participate
• Entries must be new artwork not previously posted online, in your gallery, or anywhere else publicly.
• Entries must not appear online anywhere else during the contest or until the Contest Winners have been Posted. By entering into the contest, the top three Winners are agreeing to not publish their Cover Images (except on their Renderosity Gallery) until 90 days after the Publication of Issue 5.
• No Nudity (image must be suitable for ALL audiences)
• Only one image per person allowed (this includes member clones - that is, even if you have multiple accounts, only one entry per PERSON).
• Post work is allowed.
• Any software can be used.
• By uploading your image you are agreeing that this is your original works. Also, by uploading your entry you are certifying that all models used in the image are free from print and publication restrictions (Contest winners will be required to sign a statement verifying this.)
• The Artist will remain the intellectual property holder of their entry images.
• Cover winners may also be interviewed for a special magazine feature highlighting the creation of the winning artwork.
• A cover template is available showing the current cover layout and cover heading concept. The edges of your image will be faded to black, and the "Renderosity" title will appear on the top with shading so make sure you take this into account when you design your entry! The magazine cover template may be downloaded here. (A note about this template - this will be placed on top of your image BY US when we get the magazine ready for print so that your image will be 'vignetted' on the sides and top by the dark fades. Please make your entry the entire size of the template and just remember that parts of the top and parts of the sides will be "covered" by this darkened 'frame'.)
• Seeds of Inspiration Contest begins December 17th - and ends January 19, 2003 at 23:55PM Renderosity Server Time.
