Storytellers and minstrels, bards and poets, we bid thee to attend a tournament of words and wit. Our good champions will be he or she who best relates our theme of chivalry: those traits of courtesy, honor, courage, gallantry that we hold in high esteem! The theme may be expressed in past, present or future tense....chivalry need not be restricted to a certain time or place; it is a noble ideal for all ages. You may enter either poetry or prose, as your muse best dictates.

Submission Guidelines

  • Your prose or poetry work must be based on the theme Chivalry Lives--however you choose to interpret that.
  • Tell us your tale in 1,000 words or less.
  • Double space between paragraphs.
  • Send as a *.doc or *.txt attachment. Do not attach anything but the story.
  • You must include the following information on your attached document:
    1. Your real name.
    2. Your Renderosity nickname (if you have oneit is not necessary to be a Renderosity member to participate in this contest).
    3. Your email address.
  • Winners will need to provide us with a mailing address.
  • Do not insert html formatting.
  • Email your entry to: editor@renderositymagazine.com

    Contest Rules:

  • Contest Theme: Chivalry Lives! Only one entry per author. Enter a short prose piece (fiction or nonfiction) or poem which illustrates the theme.
  • Contest begins Friday, October 1, 2004, ends Sunday, October 24, 2004 at Noon Renderosity Server Time. (Entries MUST be timestamped by this date/time).
  • Winners will be announced November 1, 2004 in the Magazine Interact Forum and on The Renderosity Interactive Magazine.
  • Who may not enter: members listed as judges or current Magazine Staff, and Administrators. You do not have to be a member of Renderosity or a RIM subscriber to enter.
  • Very Important: your story/poem must be a new work, not previously posted online, in your gallery, or anywhere else publicly.
  • Entries must not appear online anywhere during the contest or until the contest winners have been posted. By entering into the contest, the poetry and short story winners agree to not publish their stories until 90 days after the publication of the Nov/Dec issue of The RIM [due to be published mid-September].
  • No sexual or extreme violence. Stories/poems must be suitable for all audiences.
  • Only one entry per author is allowed (even if you have multiple email accounts, only one entry per person).
  • By uploading your prose or poetry, you are declaring that this is your original work. (Contest winners will be required to sign a statement verifying this.)
  • By entering the contest you are giving The Renderosity Interactive Magazine permission to publish your short story or poem if you should be declared one of the contest winners [with the exception of the Random Drawings].
  • Authors will remain the intellectual property holder of their entries.
  • The decision of the judges is final.
  • The RIM Writer's Contest is sponsored by The Renderosity Interactive Magazine [The RIM].
