The inspiration for this short story came from the "The Family Crypt" render. The woman in the render is so pre-occupied with all of her thoughts of her loved ones who have passed away, the upcoming Halloween party that she doesn't notice the impending danger swooping down on her till it is too late. The image is so serene at first, but when you eyes start really looking at all the details, you see the impending danger, the great dragon and his prey. It's a real shame no one entered this category because it was really fun writing this short story!
