Entry #72

INSPIRATION:  Halloween has always gotten the creative juices flowing for me.  Something about the mystery and the perceived "danger" of the season makes for interesting subject matter.  One of my first animations (if not the first) was Halloween-themed.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: I originally intended for this entry to be an animation, but I normally take months to make an animation, and my time was cut to just one week, as "real-life" decided to rear its ugly head.  (Talk about your horrors!)  So I decided to take the elements I was going to use in the animation, and created a composition that represented it as closely as possible as still image.

PRESENTATION: So, here is my interpretation of Generational Horror wars, incorporating monsters from various eras (classic to 80's to modern) facing off in dark alley in some small corner of the planet.

PERSPIRATION: I can't say how long it took me exactly, but the concept I developed in a day, with a rough outline in another day, then various stages over the course of week, probably 8-10 hours at a time.  Way more than I care to admit anyway!

UTILIZATION: I used Poser Pro 11, Vue Infinite 11.5, Photoshop and even After Effects (yes, as mo-graph person, I just find some things so much easier in AE!).  I did all of the posing in Poser (go figure!), including the blood.  Final composition, placement and final renders in Vue.  Photoshop was used for compositing, clean-up, color-correction, and color-grading.  Finally, I used After Effects to sim and fine-tune DOF (depth of field), as well as some other minor cosmetic changes.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
