Imagine lying on the ground, paralyzed, as an extraterrestrial creature extracts a sample of your blood as if you are nothing more than a lab rat. Will the alien be satisfied with a little vial of your blood, or will it whisk you away in its spaceship to perform further experiments at its leisure? You might think that your predicament could not get any worse, but the scent of your blood has attracted the attention of another monster of more earthly origin. You have no choice but to watch as these monsters of different genres battle for possession of your helpless body.
My inspiration for this image was a documentary about the alien abduction phenomenon that I saw several years ago. One of the psychologists they interviewed suggested that the abductees were actually dreaming, and the aliens were merely products of their own subconscious. He further noted that the fear of creatures that slip into peoples’ bedrooms to torment them while they are paralyzed and helpless has a venerable history; in the past, such monsters were conceived in terms appropriate to the context of the times (vampires, witches, demons, etc.).
I rendered the image with Iray in Daz Studio 4.9, and used Corel PaintShop Pro to change the image size and resolution. I didn’t feel that any other post work was necessary. The vampire is a Genesis 2 figure, while the alien and the victim are both Genesis 3. It took me about five hours altogether to set up the image and render it.
