Do you have Poser? I don't know how to do it in Photoshop, but if you load the .jpg as a bump map to the ground plane in Poser, it will convert it for you.

Yes , i have Poser 4 that i am just now getting around to playing with but still a newbe. when i load it the ground plane do i need to save it? when i go back to look at the file it is a .jpg still. hate to be a bother. you all seem like real pro's in here. and well , I fell kinda Dum LOL

The ground plane is already loaded in the default scene, just go to Render>materials, select the ground plane as the prop and load your .jpg that you want to convert into the .bum into the bump map menu. Poser will ask you if you want to convert it, select yes and you're all set. You can also convert it using it's intended prop, if you have it loaded into the scene. Be sure to remove the newly created bump map from your ground plane if you go that route.

ok im doing just like you say but it dont ask if i want to convert it.

You sure your loading the .jpg that needs to be converted in the bump map section, not the texture section? The second one down on the left.

You have Poser Pro-pack? I seem to remember someone saying once that Pro-pack does this for you. I don't have it so i don't know for sure.

bikeralley ( ) posted Sat, 14 December 2002 at 4:05 PM

yes, i had to look to see. its been about 6 months since i bought it and got pissed at trying to work it after spending all that money on it, seems like it was a bundel pak or something. I love the look it gets but seems so hard to understand sometimes. getting ths clothes to fit and getting the light just right seems to be the secret. and poseing is no peace a cake. but other then that its fine LOL but im sure we all started there at some point.

dampeoples ( ) posted Sat, 14 December 2002 at 4:11 PM

Yeah, it can be tough. Glad you got it worked out. here's a hint; use the dials :)

I have been trying to learn how to alter texture maps ( i think that is what im trying to say ) I got a motorcycle from Bill-T and i found the pic that he uses to put the flames on the tank and want to change them to something else. but the way that they are on the sheet is confusing me. i would think that the images would wrap around the object but the way it is layed out this it is not possible. where can i find some info on this, i have looked here and have not found what im looking for. thanks you have been a great help! :) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't have any experience texturing (yet at least), but you could try posting in the Poser forum here, or the texturing forum here as well. There is also a texturing forum, and some very helpful people at www.runtimedna.com too.
