Subject: Strange email from Daz3D, I think.

Jcleaver ( ) posted Sat, 14 December 2002 at 12:16 PM · edited Mon, 02 December 2024 at 4:28 PM

Just received an email from Daz3d@sceamingdesign.daz3d.com. It was blank. Any ideas on what this is about?

Aliens. Kissinger. Chem trails. You fill in the blanks--I've said too much already.

It's a new virus! It can be caught by humans as well as pc's. It's extremely contagious & there's no known cure. The best thing to do is switch off your pc & have it sealed in concrete. by the way I'm kidding :)

We just recently purchased Screamdesign.com It is like DAZ but for Web designers. And it is still in developement. It is possible it was some server test. I'll find out on Monday.

Thanks, I couldn't quite figure out what it could be, but figured it was a new marketing scheme!

I figured DAZ just had a blond moment... :)

Ah, thank you for telling us Anton. I actually thought it was another virus disguised as mail from a Poser-related address...got lots of those recently. SnowS

I do not speak as a representative of DAZ, I speak only as a long-time member here. Be nice (and quit lying about DAZ) and I'll be nice too.

I received a similar e-mail from daz3d2@daz3d2.tempdomainname.com. Hum.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

I just got one (blank) from daz3d3 - Odd thing was, when I peeped the routing it had been sent via an old Email address I'd deleted from my DAZ profile months ago. Somebody fire up an old server by accident?

bloodsong ( ) posted Sat, 14 December 2002 at 6:13 PM

heyas; think they're testing an email database backup? didn't the weekly freebie database get trashed a few weeks ago? (or was i the only one who had to sign back up again?)

TheDaedalus ( ) posted Sat, 14 December 2002 at 7:13 PM

"(or was i the only one who had to sign back up again?) I had to as well. It was a little strange! Aaron

hauksdottir ( ) posted Sat, 14 December 2002 at 8:52 PM

Is that what happened? I had to sign back up, but thought it might have been a move to a new server or something.

scupper ( ) posted Sat, 14 December 2002 at 11:07 PM

I had to re-signup too. I thought I just tossed my cookies.

macelene ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 9:06 AM

So that is what happened to the free Daz stuff. Tech Support had to re-sign me up. I kept trying to re-sign myself and it just kept sending me to the signup page after I had signed up again. Macey
