Subject: Anyone making X-mas xards with Poser

Hi there, Lisa Buckalew said she sent an image to the printer for Xmas cards. Also saw Bloodsong has a NewYears Card for sale. Anyone doing this? Anton

I'm planning to do an online card for some freinds using Poser. I'm thinking of doing Santa flying in the 57 Chevy the Dudley poserized with a reindeer and some surfboards. Chris Cox

I have one for sale at Cafe Press. But as I'm the only one who knows about it (well almost) I haven't sold any :o)

I sent out my Father Christmas image and some Christmas elves I rendered to family and friends. This is the 2nd year that I've used my Poser images for Christmas cards.

I have one I've made based on the "Bubba Claus" joke that's floating around the internet these days. The folks got a good chuckle...

TygerCub ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 6:20 AM

Sorry, forgot to say that the background photo, sleigh, santa hat, presents and sack were all part of the free stuff contributions here at R'osity. The beard and morphed clothes are from DAZ.

Cookienose ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 7:17 AM

I didn't make Xmas cards per se, instead made a series of little gift cards to attach to presents for family members. Happy Holidays! :)

like trekkiegirl I also do some on cafespress. Actually have done some customs as well, it is fun I have some cards made up and the quality is quite nice, :)

rasputina ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 7:33 AM

I mean the items print quality-! I re-read that and thought eww that looks like I'm putting myself over.

sparrowheart ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 7:51 AM

LOL rasputina. No, I knew you meant the print quality, but I am sure your imagery was great too. Actually, I was very glad to see some feedback on Cafe Press print quality as I have been toying with the idea of having them make a few things for my family and friends. Thanks! Kimberly

I make all my christmas cards, I just print them myself on print to the edge paper or high gloss card paper, everyone is thrilled with original one of a kind cards.. I sold 50 cards just from showing it to the girl at the store around the corner.I was really happy with the way my santa printed out. I don't normally sell them, I make them just for personal use, but hey, wasn't gonna argue with her

RHaseltine ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 9:01 AM

I make family cards, mostly in AI with PS or Painter, but this year (if I don't run out of time) I'm finally doing a Poser card - at the moment I'm making some stereotypical Middle-Eastern buildings for the setting.

Turtle ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 9:32 AM

I make cards with Poser all year long. They are so personal and most get framed. I print them myself. I have a new Lexmark printer that will print so well, and use very good photo paper. As far as selling cards-No way I did that years ago, and I finally sold them at my cost to get my money. (The packaging cost me so much) But I did have a limited Prints made on high quailty paper and I made money with this. This all was old fashion art. :O)

Anton, I did my Christmas card this year with your mouse on it. Everyone loves it. Melanie

rain ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 11:36 AM

I used the mouse too! :-) And the cat and one of the cartoon kids. I use Poser for most of my cards but I just print them myself.

JettBoy ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 1:34 PM

I'm helping a buddy of mine, a musician, do a CD to give out as his combo Christmas card/Christmas gift. It has renditions of his favorite holiday songs and a cover, rendered in Poser, of a hot babe in a bright red bikini & Santa hat playing a red 'Strat. The title is "Bitchin' Christmas".

rasputina ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 2:08 PM

hi sparrowheart, as soon as I hit post reply...I thought oh lor I didn't mean it like that...actually regarding the quality yesterday was the first bit I had ever seen quality wise from cafepress having bought some coasters and postcards for stocking stuffers and was really surprised at how well their print process looks, especially as things (on my monitor) look slightly dark once uploaded w/cafepress they do not at all once printed.

creativechaos ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 2:45 PM

Last year I did mine with a Poser character, this year I'm using my final project for a class (since the assignment was to make a Christmas card with certain specs...used programs was one of the "requirements" so adding Poser to the mix wasn't going to fly) I have done a lot of stuff from "advertisements" to flyers for friends bands with Poser people though.

Kendra ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 8:09 PM

I always print my own cards. I'll use poser or bryce and, of course, photoshop. This year I got lazy and just scanned a photo we had taken in Las Vegas earlier in the year with some pine branches around it.
Last year I created a parchment paper with "Home for Christmas" words and music and a family photo faded into it with the Daz Violin at the base.
Before that did a looking in the window view with the kids pictures faded into christmas balls in the tree.
Those are the ones I can think of.

It's really getting to be stressful because family members are beginning to expect this so if I send plain cards they complain. ;)

Attached Link: Our holiday card

The last few years I've made Christmas cards using Poser at least in part. This year, housemouse is standing on my red holiday cap holding a Christmas cookie and the new reindeer are behind hubby who is fitted with a fake white beard (painted) and my dog is wearing the cap pinched from the head a Daz elf render. I render tons of Poser stuff just for compositing things like this. My envelopes are individually customized and feature the Christmas teddy bear (Daz white bear with holiday attire), several variations of housemouse, the Daz elf and Poser Santa, etc. I printed my photo/picture cards today in fact, on glossy photo paper and have them ready to mail. The e-card version is at http://users2.ev1.net/~dctodd/cards/toddxmas2002.jpg
