12/18/02 -- Producer/ Director Julian Grant is proud to announce the formation of the RENDERFEST - the 3D Animation Film Festival set to debut in Toronto, Canada this July 2003. This showcase of cutting edge digital filmmaking is a unique look at the talents currently working worldwide in this exciting digital medium. Visit RENDERFEST at www.renderfest.org to submit your film today! "So many motion pictures and television shows depend upon the artistry of these incredible visionaries. RENDERFEST is an opportunity for these filmmakers in their own right to showcase personal and independent work outside of their traditional venues. I wanted to create a platform for 3D digital filmmakers to present their animated films in a festival environment and meet the public to discuss their work. Everything in this festival has been created using the computer and it is a chance for the general public to see what is possible. There is a great demand for innovative and unique animation and this festival is designed for everyone (including children) to see what is happening and what the future of cinema will look like." RENDERFEST runs over three days and nights in July with screenings to include an Opening & Closing Gala, North American Showcases and an International Selection of material. On Saturday and Sunday, afternoon matinees have been set up for children and younger viewers to attend and events continue on into the evening with unique thematic and national showcases. The schedule for RENDERFEST will be announced May 30, 2003. Press materials will be available at that time. "We want audiences of all ages to attend and see what is possible. Kids love computer animation and I didn't want to exclude them from the process. RENDERFEST is designed not only to be kid-friendly but also a chance for adults to see what is being done today. We are hoping to show our audience, both young and old, a wild new world of 3D animated entertainment and excitement. Prices start at $10/person per event with a discounted $5/ student. Children are only $2/person. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For More Information Contact: Julian Grant Festival Director RENDERFEST Tel: 416-336-1889 FAX:905-264-7731 jgesq@renderfest.org

Gotta love Toronto for promoting the arts! :) Hopefully I will remember by the time July comes. How many people here are from Toronto anyway? (I am)

This is great! I'm really looking forward to this. I live north of TO but I work downtown.

RawArt ( ) posted Thu, 19 December 2002 at 5:21 PM

ummm....why was this moved to the contest forum? ...it is not a contest, but a film festival.

jgesq ( ) posted Thu, 19 December 2002 at 5:24 PM

Not my call. I just cross-posted to the Forums that I felt were appropriate. Please feel free to contact me if you require additional information. Best, JG

I couldn't figure out where else to put it. OT? Didn't belong in Poser though shrug

jgesq ( ) posted Thu, 19 December 2002 at 8:34 PM

Fair enough. I'm a Poser animator myself though so perhaps you might consider listing it there as that Forum has the greatest traffic. JG

Lyrra ( ) posted Fri, 20 December 2002 at 12:40 AM

How about moving it to animation? that seems relevant

firefly ( ) posted Fri, 20 December 2002 at 9:49 PM

I think Animation Master, 3D/2D Animation and the Virtual Tavern would be great places for this thread. We also enjoy getting News Releases in the magazine interact forum :)

jgesq ( ) posted Fri, 20 December 2002 at 10:44 PM

Thanks for the advice, Firefly. Dear Lyrra, is it possible to shift accordingly or should I repost? Thx. JG

firefly ( ) posted Fri, 20 December 2002 at 10:58 PM

You're very welcome jgesq!! Would you mind terribly reposting? I know that Lyrra is pretty busy :) and since I've listed 3 forums it will boil down to needing reposting anyway (smiles) Let me know! I'll watch for you in the mag interact!
