She was hoping to catch Santa on his rounds... I guess there's always next year. Happy Holidays!

This is so sweet. Brings back memories of my younger brother waking me up to tell me he heard the reindeer on the roof. :-D

What a great expression on the face!

Great job. Gotta love it. What Ang25 said reminds me of one year when my older brother swore up and down that my dad climbed up on the roof and was ringing jingle bells to make him think reindeer were on the roof.

This is terrific! Happy Holidays to you too! Lin

Yes, that's so sweet. She must be having sweet dreams of Santa bringing presents. Lovely picture. Josselin

I agree - this is SO sweet! Wonderful work! Greets, Jimi

Jausse: I think it's "visions of sugar plums" dancing in her head.

Or it could be Nounours coming down his cloud to greet her (I'm French, I've got different references, sorry) :-)

Very nicely done. And what are you guys saying? No Santa? You old farts. You ALWAYS have to believe and always have to keep the faith so as not to forget what Christmas is about. Besides, you have to be a kid at heart to play with the toys the little ones get.

Boomer: I'm confused (my usual state). The only comment here that says anything about "no Santa" is yours. And I resent being called and old f**t. I'm not that old. :^) And in my family, Santa is not "what Christmas is about", anyway. I think the point here is that the little girl fell asleep and missed Santa, not that he never came. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I know, tjohn. Just busting chops. It's not Santa himself, but what he represents and the mythology behind the figure and his representation of the holiday season. Christmas to me is just about being with family and those you love. Gifts are always nice, but it's not what it's all about. I'm 33, but still a kid at heart and always will be. I'm looking forward to seeing my nephews on Christmas morning. They are spitting images of my brother and I at their age and it brings back some wonderful memrories. Happy Holidays to all!

I think what I like best is the serene tranquility of the little girl... The world today is too much like it was during my childhood; the threat of nuclear war looming ever constant, was the shelter properly stocked? The "menace" whatever it was, was out there. But, still, I remember thinking more of Christmas than of the preceeding October... Peace on Earth..

"Visions of sugarplums..." aahhhhh, to be young again with not a care in the world, what a great picture, reminds me to call my two younger sisters, we used to sit on the stairs and wait too, but always woke up in our beds...:>

I just keep coming back to look at this. Thanks for this picture, gregsin. When I was small, I would wake up on Christmas morning about an hour before the rest of my family and sit on the couch staring at the Christmas tree and the presents until everybody else woke up. The memory of the feeling of anticipation is still very strong and is my fondest memory of Christmas, the anticipation being even more fun and exciting than the opening of presents. Thanks again!

My childhood memories of Chrismas are similiar and I too remember the excitement and anticipation on Christmas eve and Christmas morning. My older sister and I always tried to catch Santa, we never could.
