Subject: Injecting V3 takes all nite, still no morphs, HELP???

MaxxArcher ( ) posted Sun, 22 December 2002 at 4:00 AM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 10:23 AM

Hi all,

I am trying to inject ALL body and head morphs into V3, but after running all nite P5-SR2 is still working on injecting the morphs.
I created a separate Runtime for V3 and copied the necessary V2 OBJ files to that runtime. Single morph injections work fine, though they take about 3 minutes to get injected.

I have a 1.3Mhz P3 with 640Mb memory, GeForce2 Graphics card with 32Mb memory. Over 20Gb free diskspace...

Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be going on?

Thanks
Maxx

I have the same problems with Poser 5. Do you still have Poser 4 installed? In Poser 4 it takes less then 5 min to inject all morphes to V3. Hope that helps Chris

If you have Poser 4 inject the morphs you want and save the figure. Re-open that figure in Poser 5 and you will have all the morphs in that you injected in Poser 4. Marque

Had the same problem, Maxx. Just do as suggested: load the morphs in P4 and resave the Cr2. You will be surprised how fast P4 does the job.

If you're using P5 with multiple runtimes, then make sure V3 is installed in the default (original) P5 runtime. Once I did this I had no problems injecting the morphs and they worked rather quickly too.

Well, that is a shame. It's too bad we can't use Poser 5 like we want. I have configured my runtimes so I have one for DAZ, one for RDNA, etc. I would have liked to keep it that way, but it looks like I'll have to change my organization to please DAZ.

I still think it's a P5 thing and not Daz' fault.

I don't think it was CL that needs to have V3 in the default runtime. I think it is the way that DAZ set it up. Mind you, V3 is an incredible model, and I'm glad to have her.

I understand that DAZ didn't create V3 or the installation of her with Poser 5 in mind. That is what bothers me. They certainly are within their rights to do it this way. But I don't have to like it.

[CYNIC ALERT]

It's almost like DAZ wants there to be problems with Poser 5 so that when Daz Studio is released it will seem like a godsend. (That's the cynical part of me, I don't really believe that).

[CYNIC ALERT OFF]

I like DAZ. They make incredible models, and they are very concious of their customer base. I'll go along with the plan and change my way of doing things. I just wish I didn't have to do so.

Only took about 5 or 6 minutes for me in Poser 4. I have a 600mhz PIII with 640 megs of ram, WinXP...relatively slow machine by todays standards ;o). The more I hear about it, the less I want Poser 5. Laurie

I will say that after installing V3 to the default runtime, everything injects fine and fairly fast. I would just like to have installed it to a different runtime. Ratteler -- I'm to old for that nowadays! ;-)

wdupre ( ) posted Sun, 22 December 2002 at 11:14 AM

why not install to your default runtime inject and then move all to the new runtime? that way you don't need to reinstall P4. (if V3 is an upgrade you will have to move the blMilWom.obj(V1-2 object) file into your P5 geometry folder as well, so the installer can verify you have it)

Jcleaver ( ) posted Sun, 22 December 2002 at 11:17 AM

Actually, you don't have to move it. The installer found the correct one even though I did not move the file into my P5 geometry folder.

HMM that didnt work for me had to copy the file to load the upgrade.

Thanks All, I'll give your sugestions a go (still isn't working right after 12 hrs or so). BTW Ratteler, I suggested my girlfriend this injecting thing, but she had a headache, go figure...

wdupre ( ) posted Sun, 22 December 2002 at 4:44 PM

I went ahead and loaded V3 into my primary P5 library(did have to transfer the V1/2 obj file) and it worked. took about 3 minutes to load all the morphs. no problem.
