I voted about 2 days ago, is this to mean that the votes made are gone? Bummer.:(

This is the link I followed to go vote. Got it in my email. When I follow it now though, it only shows a list of artists and their sites, no place to vote which was down further on the page. ???

Maybe I'm missing something here, only been a member a short while, but this seems like the issue "is full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." Can someone explain to me why it even MATTERS if we have "Artists of the Month/Year?" I have more fun with monthly challenges inside the Bryce Forum, than this would seem to generate. And how would this issue warrant a lawsuit, anyway? A few donated prizes from software companies that the winners probably already own is worth litagation? No comprendo, my friends.

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

I agree whole heartedly tjohn, I enjoy our monthly challenges much more as there is not pressure just a lot of fun and learning along the way.:)

I enjoy them as well, didn't even know they had an AOY until I saw a post to go and vote, it's neither here nor there to me, but I thought the controversy over it was interesting....

If you're looking for a career in art - or even to get a few contracts, AOY would help somewhat, as would AOM. Or I should say DID help. I don't think it will hold any weight any more, as it looks like the prospect of ol' Doc winning AOY (which he likely would have done) causes three types of rumpus which resulted in the withdrawing of the poll. I suppose the showcasing of rabbits advising kids to take drugs and Jesus racing Darth Vader on an armadillo would not put the site and a good light. And it wouldn't have. But that's art, folks! Anyway, I wasn't nominated so I don't care - ner! ner! ;) But if I had, and I'd been about to take the lead, I would have been a little peeved.

I guess it may depend on whether you want to get some money for art now, or let someone else get money for your art after you're dead (if you're talented, of course). :^)

I've been getting the Forum news posts in my e-mail, and I usually read them, passions are certainly running high over there. And one person called the general membership and I quote "....think the membership, however irresponsible or intellectually impaired, deserve an answer." What was the big deal anyway?

I am not sure exactly what the big deal is, but it seems there was a major difference in opinion on what art is and isn't. If you look at Legumes gallery you will see quite a bit of the same stuff going on...it is more than controversy here...some is just plain nasty.
