This is a new temple im working on! Based on the actual Temple of Horus in Edfu and im planning of building the whole thing with the inner chambers and everything! The Anubis statues is just some extra stuff. The texturing is photos taken from the temple, but i still need to work with them, get rid of seems, adding the carved reliefs etc.

I usually dont post WIPs, but i really would like to hear what you think! :)

Rochr, Looks good to me! especially the interior shot - do you know what that style of columns is called? they look very interesting.

The texture looks good. What's bugging me is the regularity of the stone blocks. They should come alternatively, not straight one above another.

Excellent! Are you going to do a render of the current appearence or as it was when finished 57BC? Napoleon's Army did a survey and published a very rare volume of books called Description de l'Egypte. A picture book of the plates has come out and is available at the attached link. It has a bigger version of the wall images including the one I attached. I hope it can be of some help. I'm really looking foreward to your finished work:)

Thanx for the link! Ill check this out! :) The final appearence will be similar to this. The textures on the pic is made out of photos i took during my recent vacation in Egypt! I still have to work with the photos before the textures can be used. The one used is just a segment of one of the photos and only a test. Erlik, i think thats what you mean about regularity of the blocks. Thats the seems of the texture.

Rochr, The book that electroglyph pointed out is available as a massive hardbound volume, i have a copy of it and it is filled with pictures of the actual archaeological plates of the heiros, engravings on the many egyptian temples, structures, columns etc. Mostly in B&W, great for bump maps, there are some color plates. It also includes cutaway views of the structures to show you exactly how they are laid out and interior details. all in all a very vital book for anyone interested in historical accuracy :-) The tilte is The monuments of egypt, the napoleonic edition. However, theres some problems using printed images for textures. You cant resize them!
The color-points (raster???) gets too large!
But i have a ton of hi-rez photos, taken from 7 different temples visited,(Karnak, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Luxor etc...), that includes structures, walls, reliefs, hieroglyphs etc, which im currently working on, trying to make them suitable for texture purposes! Ill see how these will turn out for starters.
If i manage to get any descent textures out of this, im going to put them up as free downloads on my webpage!
Ill let you know about the progress!

PS! Im going to check out the book anyway though! Ancient Egypt has always fascinated me! :)

Rochr, I'm glad to see Stuff like this especially coming from someone as accomplished as yourself. At one point I wanted study Archeology but never got to it. I'd bet you'll probably end up making your own textures. A while ago derjimi, who appears interested in stuff like this too, turned me on to a site on art history focused on architecture which had stuff like stonehenge and ancient greek temples in it, but he knows alot more about it than I do . . . BTW brycetech had a corinthian column freebe through poser forum you might want to check out for reference if you at some point want to do something with Ancient Greek Architecture - do a search in Poser Forum under "corinthian". I can't wait to see the finished renders, - TJ

Rochr, great looking model! Anubis was lord of the underworld and Horus represented life so you would need a pair of statues depicting the god Horus as a falcon on either side of the entrance...only one stands there now, but there were two originally...

Columns were a combination of open lotus and papyrus...

Tankgirl! Funny you should post these. I shoot the exact objects myself... :) I know, it should be statues of Horus at the temple (originally), but im allowing myself some artistic freedom, and replaced them with Anubis instead. The temple will also have some extra stuff, not present at the real thing. I just use the photos as a reference! The final model will also have cracks etc. BTW, heres the real thing! And if you havent been in Egypt, i highly recommend the trip!

Excellent modelling as usual, Rochr. My only fear is that you'll post this temple to Free Stuff in a format other than obp and we'll be flooded with naked Cleopatras (Vickys) in the Galleries. :^)
