anyone know how to set prefrence for poser? after I work on poser for few min and render couple times, it always frozen when I try to render again. I end up have to restart my PC and it will render fine after restart.is that a "cache" problem ? how can I clean it ? I know in MAC , you can set the higher memery for application to work better. can I do that in PC and how?

you cant do such on a pc. In most cases its happening with win98 or Win ME Since i upgraded to XP it didnt happen to me anymore.

i have win98SE. I now the problem. I start with 128MB RAM later 512MB RAM it was much more better.Millchrs need more RAM.TO make a hole scence with figures clothes architecture..i work now with 778RAM without problems. It only happen when i use global lights with a big scence togehter and render. New PC with DDR333 RAM dont froze with 256MB with 512 it does the scence with GI- without frozing- rendering a complette story pic after pic. BX BOard and new one have no problems to work with win98 ans more than 256MB. If it dont look working for you you can use cacheman a freeware or rambooster freeware too. Hope it helps regards ST

Got the same problem here with large scenes (or V3 + hirestext) under Win98 with 512 Meg and RamBoost. First render after clean boot was ok, follow up render freezes Poser completely. Switched to XP, problem never occured again.

I had a complete system crash 2 weeks ago (thx god I mirrored my Poser-Directory...) and had to decide: install 98 again or buy XP Home. Hmm, I bought XP (new version, including the SR1) because I wanted to have the better memory management. Installation was very smooth and I am working now two weeks around 10 hours a day with xp. I am not a friend of microsoft, but I have to admit that xp runs much smoother than win98 and is much more stable. Yes, you have to search a few things the first days but you get used to it very fast. No software-problems till now with Poser4Pro, Cinema 4D7, Photoshop 7, Bryce 5 etc. All running fine.

sound its a need to update to XP to manage stable more than 256RAM. Some "freaks" say old WIN2000 is better than XP..more stable no spy etc... I think i will buy 256RAM and XP-after that i update on Poser5 with SR3 :-) i hope it comes and fix the P5 problems we all hear about in the forums. Dont now why my post was here i want answer someone tell the problems he had with frozen Poserrender but it was good to hear...regards ST
