Poser Python Scripting F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 02 3:16 pm)
I'm working hard on collision detection right now, but NOT using P5's actions, because those are not [yet] available to Python. This will work on either Poser version. So far I've managed to make a walking figure conform to a terrain. (See the "Walk This Way" script in freestuff under Utilities.) I'm about to release a script that will make a water surface deform under a boat so that the boat (or dipper or container) appears empty when below water level. From this, the type of deformation you want should be a simple variation, provided both objects have a dense enough mesh to deform properly. More general dynamic conforming is the next step after that, but it's a BIG one. Nevertheless, considering the rate of progress so far, I'll get there fairly soon. As for lights: I don't see any "magic" way to do this. Python doesn't have access to the deep guts of the rendering engine, so it can't produce light rays from anything that isn't already defined as a Light. Can't you get the effect by just creating some Lights and parenting them to the object? Or am I missing the point?

Hello , I have two ideas for scripts that I wanted to see if they could be made and see if anyone wanted to make them . 1st : using Poser5's collision detection is it possible to make a script that deforms an object based on the shape of another object or body part ? For example , lets say you have Victoria sitting in a chair , it would be nice if that chair could flatten out her backside like it's supposed to . My thinking is maybe you could have one object as hard the other as soft so that the soft one could deform based on the shape of the hard one . 2nd : Is it possible to make a script that would that would make any object into a light emitting object, maybe casting light rays based on normals ?
