Subject: Poser "Not Responding" after missing textures

Hi people, I'm pretty sure this has been answered before, but that was probably 4 to 5 months ago. I have only recently returned to Poser on the PC, and upgraded to the long awaited patch. One of the things that bugged me immensely was that if Poser was unable to find a texture which was specified in a .CR2 file or .PP2 file, 99% of the time it would just hang, i.e. Windows reports program not responding. Reading through all the fixes that were supposed to be in the patch, I was sure that this problem had been fixed, however this is not so. I still have the same problem, and the only way around it, is to identify the offending file and remove all texture references. This is a very painstaking procedure and I was hoping that maybe some of you have a way around this problem. Please HELP?!

that's weird. because NONE of the textures i have are in the place that the figures expect them... half of them dont even have the 'correct' names. mine just whines about not finding the texture, i hit cancel, it whines that it couldnt find the texture and asks me if i want it to keep whining about it. i say no, and the thing opens without textures loaded after a bit. do you get that far? or to at least the first whine box? if you hit alt-tab do you see an icon for a dialogue box that you can select? i had that happen a couple of times: a dialogue box will open, but for some reason, poser's window will sit on top of it instead of behind it. but you can alt-tab to it and get it back on top and then respond to it. if that doesn't work, you might want to report the bug, or ask mc for tech support (if ya want), or contact the poser guys now at curious labs.

I do get the whine box and after selecting "No", the fun starts. Or maybe I'm just not patient enough, then again I do expect something to be loaded after 5 minutes of waiting. I think I'll take your advice Bloodsong and fire of a question to the guys at Curious Labs. Thanks for your responses.

I used to have that problem...I wrote to one of the guys at CL and was told to delete the rsr of the offending file in geometries folder I think...that fixed it for me...he also said he was working on a way to get rid of those rsr's all together...

Cool! I'll give it a try once I get back home. Thanks!

The mesh RSR files are in binary, and likely Poser can read them quicker and easier than .OBJ files.
