Have just checked the html-code, check it yourself. This guy has learned nothing about all our mails. Now it's time to overload all his mail-accounts. Sorry colleagues, you have to wait to my LUNATICA-Character, have to make a mailing-list with allways the same addresses. LoboUK ( ) posted Tue, 25 April 2000 at 8:20 AM

In a response to my e-mail today, he states that he is removing the sales section of his site while he seeks a "commercialization agreement" with Zygote. We shall keep a close eye on this to see what transpires Paul

Allright, i will wait with my mail-action and see whats going on. SHARKEY

Hmmm... He can't get it through Zygote... He has to get it over again for each derived character from that character's author AND Zygote and possible Curious Labs as well (since these were poser characters)... I say: Release the hounds.

Truth has no value without backing by unfounded belief.

Someone mind telling the rest of us what exactly he's done? I looked at the pages mentioned above. If you gonna come down on somebody at least say what the crime was. Dave

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Tue, 25 April 2000 at 11:57 AM

Manohmanohman...I saw stuff from Yamato, Thorne, Greylight, Ghastley and a whole crew of others that I recognize from the fun stuff pages. This guy is shameless! Sadie, Mikki, Nene, Naomi, the jungle babe from Greylight's place, Catwoman, Klingon, the chinese dress and hair pieces, and that's just the stuff I recognize on sight!! He may have disabled the links to this stuff from his front pages, but he hasn't removed it. If we can find it, so can others. I think it's time for the owners of the meshes to bring this to the attention of his webspace provider. This guy doesn't seem to want to cooperate so it's time to move up the chain of command as it were, IMO. Kate (outraged and none of the models are even mine)

ScottK ( ) posted Tue, 25 April 2000 at 2:48 PM

Several people from the PFO have contacted the ISP. Their response was that they would ask him to remove the offending objects, or they would delete his account. I guess the question is, is what he's done a "deletion" (i.e. removing links but leaving the pages), and how long before the ISP acts. The problem with legal action is, it's very expensive - especially considering the site in question is not in the US, and most of the entities whose copyright was violated are. The best outcome would be for his ISP to shut him down. -sk

At last the link worked for me too! Only to find out that I am in the sad position to break the news to Bushi about this! The Hada figure at his page is MY Jollie with HIS wings and antennas! This is unbelievable! What is Zygote doing about it???? It's their company that's been mostly robbed and the only ones who do have aquired copyright legally on their models...I just hope they soon react and send this arrogant thief behind bars as he deserves..with all our blessings too!

I've read several articels in german-webmagazines about copyright etc. All in all the result is allways the same, he brakes copyright-law's. What he's doing is absolutely illegal, only to break the link to the illegal objects is for the law not enough. There is more than one known process, where this practice was loosing. SHARKEY

Whether or not he states on his page that he is not selling the items in question believe me he is selling them still. Storm

Instead I wrote a flaming email to this creep threatening him that in the end of May I will visit Spain along with a business lawyer for an agreement and I will make sure that while we are there he will take procetution against him on this at his very own country.... the reply I got..made me not just furious but capable of murder! He calls me crazy and threatens to sue ME for calling him thief!!!!!! Can you believe how untouchable he believes he is?????

Okay, this guy has had so many chances to do the right thing but continually either ignores or lies about what he is doing. He obviously believes that he is totally untouchable - but it is time for him to find out that this sort of behavior is not acceptable. I've had an e-mail from one of the webrings - stating that they have removed him from the ring's list. Has anyone heard back from his ISP yet? Paul

cooler ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 3:34 AM

The ISP has replied that the "situation" will be corrected or the account killed and that is the only thing currently forestalling me from going upstream to their provider (ttd.com). As to the "dogs of war" I've taken the liberty of sending the appropriate URLs to LucasFilms Ltd, Steven Spielberg Productions, Marvel Comics Group, Time Warner/AOL, Paramount Productions, Renaissance Pictures, 20th Century Fox, and the holding company managing the estate of Groucho Marx. I figger that should keep him busy for a while :-)

LoboUK ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 4:50 AM

Now that's a scarey thought - LucasFilms on his case :) Paul

dunga ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 5:59 AM

Guys, i think ignoring him would be a better solution to do. since you yourselves made EXCELLENT advertising for him.:) I could not figure out from his initial link where to go and download. now when you have given links it is much easier. also, going to spain with the lawyer will do nothing in fact. interpol will also "football" you justifying their position by saying that when thera are "drug dealers, terrotists, rapists etc." around your request seem childish rather. just, by ignoring him, or at least making a page (by creators) a single page: with the links to their free stuff will be an alternative. the guy is definetly smart, reformating meshes from poser to max 2.5 is easy, but not vice-versa . we know it, isn't it? so what market share will he occupy? what % of people will buy his product? after all all his site will be a free download one one day. by threatening someone with your actions ( very amorphous indeed, you look childish, and that is shameful. act when you have thought all possibilities. I hope it wasn't a cold shower?

TazmaniaK ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 6:11 AM

I don't think either, that Interpol or any lawer will help in solvin that problem. My be, a better solution would be to as some hacking group for help . . . . .

TazmaniaK ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 6:20 AM

dunga ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 6:21 AM

problem with ethics will arise immediately: guys hack so to make things free. guys do not hack beacuse YOU ( aperson or a company) wanna punish someone. this is not a solution. If you ignore him, and delete him from the rings it is all what you can do. PS. however one can start his own webring right? so we are in the closed circle, just ignore i guess.

TazmaniaK ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 6:23 AM

And what, if you have made somethin free, and someone takes it and sales it for his own benefits, even without mentioning you name ????

dunga ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 6:35 AM

yes i totaly agree. what if he could (fantasy is my domain) contact all creators and offer them share in the profits?

TazmaniaK ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 6:45 AM

I've got your point! When I create something, and it is mentioned to be free,I do not care what somebody else is going to do with it. If I place a restrictions on the purpose of my creation it will no longer be free. You see, if a mesh is free, BUT "You cannot sell it or distribute it" then it is not completly free. But I like this place, and I am taking the side of the guys overhere. . . .

TazmaniaK ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 8:11 AM

As far as I know, FBI is an American organisatio, not INTERNATIONAL. And if that is true, it is beyond their juristdiction to go after people in foreign countries. May be if you contact NATO, they will do it (as they did last year!) :-)))

LoboUK ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 8:24 AM

... is just a bit over the top :) I've no idea about the FBI and where that are/aren't allowed to operate, but the organisation you would want is INTERPOL - both the US and Spain are members Paul

TazmaniaK ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 8:28 AM

I agree with Paul. You just did not get my sarcasm :-)

TazmaniaK ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 8:34 AM

Neither INTERPOL, nor FBI, nor NATO, nor UN nor even GOD will do anything. ANd I'll give you an example. In my country you can buy a CD collection with Photoshop, Poser, 3D Max and bunch or ZIPPED graphics utilities just for less than 10$. And nobody is doing anythinf for years. Have fun!

visque ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 11:27 AM

He also seems to be distributing images which were distributed with Max and, I assume, are owned by Discreet/Kinetix/Autodesk (house.jpg bundled w/Naomi.max). I'm unclear about their policy concerning the images, but I'll bet they would be interested in this guy. Oh, by the way the are a BIG international company. Someone may want to contact them. Visque

polartech ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 11:55 AM

And I know just the person at Autodesk... I`ll mail him now. I know that they have a special unit just for tracking and prosecuting pirates.

CharlieBrown ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 12:43 PM

Now if we could find something from Microsoft, he'd be DEAD. They are VERY anal about piracy (I could get some former employers in a LOT of trouble from them...)

dunga ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2000 at 10:46 PM

unfortunately guys here is some info: living in countries like USA, Canada and EU countries NO ONE -- incl. FBI, CIA, Interpol etc. can do anything to ESPECIALLY with t1 cables around, ftp servers, 0-day ftps and many more way of INSTANT subnet mask, DNS change (shall i add moore?) Look at this point: if anyone from those countries will try to do something in the rest of the world they could only succeed in 1 single case: drug trafficking and illegal (not backed by the government) weapon sale. sorry , guys, i willn ot continue this thread anymore it does not bring us closer to the solution i offered: IGNORE his site

Orb ( ) posted Thu, 27 April 2000 at 7:09 AM

IGNORE his site If you ignore it it won't go away ... and sometimes it can get bigger. Think of it as a cancer which will only get worse if ignored. If he continues to get away with it without poeple making his life hell, others will get the isea that they can do it too and only cause a little stir for a while. He has taken a few things down, most probably because those artists have complained and threatened the loudest to him. He has also expanded his selection of human figures. I have been visiting that site everyday just to see when it comes down.

LoboUK ( ) posted Thu, 27 April 2000 at 9:29 AM

I just went to check out what Orb said (thanks for the heads up) and the little SOB has extended his figures section to 7 (SEVEN) pages. Since he seems to be a complete prat who won't stop until he's stopped, and his ISP seems incable/unwilling to do anything - start e-mailing dnsadmin@ttd.net as well as his ISP. Point out that under EU law, both the site and his ISP suppliers are liable to prosecution Paul

quesswho ( ) posted Thu, 27 April 2000 at 10:00 AM

Well I just went and checked it out also, he/she has gotten tricky,I had to click around on a blank picture area to find the download areas, and after you have gone thru several pages he/she starts asking for money again. I see several downloads of Mikki, several downloads of different superheros from 3D comic, Travelers coat, several of PhilC's but at least his name is on them. Poser stock people, The Groucho that was here, I would say nothing on his/her site is his/her own, not even the poses he/she put the models in, they all look exactly as they do when you download them. Things like this fry me, I can't stand people who take credit for other peoples work and try to make a profit from it or at least brownie points(accidently creating the same thing as someone else is different and that does happen)It happens in all walks of life not just the art community and it is always discovered. Obviously this person feels above the law or at least feels that if he/she keeps changing things around people will forget about him/her and I am sure he feels what is the harm in what he is doing. He has no sense of what is right or wrong and only thinks of himself/herself. Marge

nandus ( ) posted Thu, 27 April 2000 at 11:23 AM

The only easy thing we can do is bomb him with so many emails, that the guy will not be able to find the real buyers among them!

CharlieBrown ( ) posted Fri, 28 April 2000 at 12:14 PM

Stan has SUCKY lawyers; otherwise he'd still be with Marvel... He gets paid a small amount for them to use his name, but that's it - which is why he accepted a deal to do a series of "Elseworlds" books for DC - basically "What if Stan Lee had created the DC universe in the sixties" kind of things. Sounds like fun...
