EditPad Lite (free) or Pro (pay), I find are excellent editors for CR2 files, HTML...or just about anything really. Cheers

gvim is a good tool for those familiar with the VI editor approach (think back to your days using unix terminals in college...if you were so lucky :) I think it can be found at gvim.org Someone here even posted a syntax highlight file to allow the various parts of the cr2 to show up in colors! My favorite is a program called ultraedit which does good job on large files (and can do all sorts of search & search / replaces across files and directories...I use it pretty much daily) Unfortunately, it costs a few dollars (but is really worth it if you edit text files a lot) eric
I love Delphi...I'll have to check synEdit out myself. Actually I'm quite sure editpad was written in delphi as well. Notepad on WinXp can load a file that large, but it's too slow. At least the notepad filesize limitation is gone under XP. But I've used Wordpad with no problems. BTW I used PFE under Win3.1. I had thought he'd stopped development..but there is a 32-bit version? It was great! Oh, and if you have it, Homesite does pretty well too! In fact I use Homesite for extended find/replace operations on poser files.
What's the load/save time on huge cr2's on a dual 600 to dual 850 system? Has anyone tried it? Not idle curiousity - I'm always looking for something to speed up the manual search and edit process.
"I am a good person now and it feels... well, pretty much the same as I felt before (except that the headaches have gone away now that I'm not wearing control top pantyhose on my head anymore)"
I don't think there are any multi-threaded text editors, so a huge cr2 will open up at the same speed on a 600mhz dual cpu system as it would with a single 600mhz cpu. Cheers

Hi All,Maybe you missed my previous post,
but here's a link to a (programmers) editor that is able to read the full 117Mb CR2 file of Vicki 3 and still perfom satisfactorilly. I think it will come in handy for those wanting to edit the CR2 manually.
It's called 'synEdit' and available for free. Even the source code, GPL licenced. Written in Borland Delphi. Very extensive and can be utilized for many editing jobs.
On my 1.3Mhz reading/saving the file takes about 15 seconds, after that it runs breathtaking smooth.
Give it a go...
Cheers
